Hi again! Just posting another late project for Illustration Friday! (I swear I will start posting them on time!) Anyway this time the theme was "Surrender" and when I think of the word surrender, the first thing that always comes to mind is the Wicked Witch of the West from the Wizard of Oz sky writing "Surrender Dorothy!", however instead of sticking to her traditional broom stick, I decided to put her in an old fashioned airplane (just for the fun of it). Also I would have added some flying monkeys but I didn't wan't to get too carried away...
Dorothy is leaning a little, and doesn't look very well grounded, but it was my first time drawing someone from behind, so the proportions are probably really off, and my Prismacolor could be blended better (there are noticeable streaks of colored pencil in the sky) but that's what art is about, learning from your mistakes, and if you can critique yourself then that's half the battle!
I am a studio art major, and am currently attending Santa Rosa Junior College. My interests include animation, illustration, cartooning, and photography. This is a blog for posting my student work, sketches and various doodles.

Hi! And welcome to my blog! I have actually been meaning to start this project for a while now (bad me!) so I have a ton of work to post here, and will hopefully be updating frequently! So for now here is a drawing I was planning to submit to Illustration Friday. The theme for this piece was "reverse", and so I had a brilliant idea (or so I thought) to draw a zebra with reversed stripes, (as in a black zebra with white stripes rather than a white zebra with black stripes). Unfortunately the reversed affect did not turn out as clear as I thought it would be, except for maybe the leaves which I decided to make red which is the opposite of green in order to make the whole composition fit with the theme.
